The UK and friends celebrate Verity's birthday

Don’t bet against Verity when she says she’s going to have a birthday extravaganza. You may already have guessed that if you knew that Verity started her own members club “20 Days” which coordinates events to make the most out of the standard 20 vacation days for every professional in the UK, (20days.co.uk).

Verity and Lorne really outdid themselves this weekend as they brought in the 8th anniversary of Verity’s 25th birthday. They had put off having visitors come visit Madrid while they’ve been busy in the program, but they opened up this weekend for all friends who wanted to partake in birthday festivities. 10 of their friends headed to town for the weekend.

Any birthday that starts off with a Google spreadsheet for daily activity sign-up’s has to be good. As Verity’s Madrid mujer my name was third on every list. I actually didn’t even see the spreadsheet but thankfully a Nobel rightfully signed me up.

Friday night – the UK group got settled into their fab apartments then we headed to a 40 person dinner at the top of Mercado San Anton, followed by dancing at Café Olivier and Gabana until morning.

Saturday – (let’s be honest, 3 hours after going to bed) we brunched then went on a bike tour of Madrid (so cool!!!!). Then lunch and naps before going to fav’ Mercado San Miguel which was the starting location for their Madrid pub crawl. I was asleep still during this part of the evening. When I woke up at 11:30 pm, I threw on an outfit and flew out the door. Met the group in the second location and we headed to the third, one place was a DVD rental by day and a bar by night. This band of hooligans was outstanding, so fun and so funny!!

Sunday the Nobles set up a cinema in their living room and started the movie “Bridesmaids.” Their family and friends took turns heading to the airport. At some point it was time for me too to walk those two blocks back to my house. That day was like death.
