9 months, 3 days, 17 hours, 30 minutes...an East Coast homecoming.

My parents took a detour on their way back to California after attending a wedding and visiting my aunt in the Carolina's to stop by New York for a hug.

They arrived on Father's Day at the LaMothe's, my mom was prepared to forfeit their luggage that was delivered to the wrong airport. You have to love when anticipation interrupts sanity. I remember once when I was towed 205 miles (that feels ridiculous just saying!) and my mom wanted to tip the tow truck driver her birthday money for delivering me home safely. My dad probably gave a husband glare and he left sans a percentage he was comfortable with.

Since "Eat, Pray, Love" is already taken for the title of a book which describes a woman's journey to foreign lands to find herself. If I ever find myself binding my own tales, I might use such inspiration: "When Anticipation Interrupts Sanity" the story of a female graduate school student eager to change her life, flies 5000 miles away from what she didn't know she needed...

A proper homecoming isn’t without champagne. Kathy, my mom, Kristen and I played Nerts while Kristen’s two little ones played outside and would come to show off a worm or collect more popcorn from the window sill ledge. We had a break in our intense game when Kristen realized the bowling ball was missing from the window sill and out the window Kristen went, cool as a cucumber when she was rationalizing why they couldn't play with the ball.

Also out in the backyard, my IE brethren, Michael has constructed the beginning of a tree house for his nephews. When he’s not eating lunch for breakfast, he’s outside hammering away, and you know what, it’s awesome.

We had a ping pong tournament and Jimmy (my dad) won. He was not crowned but he did sit over a giant Lego thrown with the losers surrounding him. This photo will most likely be seen on the LaMothe “winners” and “losers” wall.

From June 2011
"Jimmy Ping" sweeps the tournament

The gang came into the city Wednesday and we catch happy hour and a Jersey Boys!!!!!!!! It was fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So many good songs!!! I trained back in Friday night and we woke up on Saturday in Bedford Hill, New York.

One of my favorite Saturdays: at 8:05 am Kathy, Lyle, Bettie, Jim, Mike and I hopped in the car and headed down the road to Target. We grabbed coffees when we got in and took our sweet time going through the store. There are some routine walkers (like those walkers at the mall) that take laps through Target. They wear jog suits and have headphones and some kind of fanny pack-like bag. There were two, and when we saw the male walk the female to a car, the story took on a mind of its own.
